Sandalwood oil is very costly and very easy to grow plant Growing a sandalwood tree can be a rewarding experience! Here are some steps to help you get started: 1. Selecting the Site Climate : Sandalwood thrives in sunny climates with moderate rainfall. Ideal temperatures range from 12°C to 28°C. Soil : Choose well-drained soil, preferably red ferruginous loam. Sandalwood can also grow in sandy soils, red clay soils, and vertisols. The soil pH should be between 6.0 and 7.5 1 . 2. Germinating the Seeds Soaking : Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours. Let them dry under the sun until a crack develops, indicating they are ready for germination 1 . Potting Mix : Use a mix of red earth, cattle manure, and sand. Plant the seeds in this mixture and water them daily until they sprout 1 . 3. Transplanting the Seedlings Host Plants : Sandalwood is semi-parasitic and needs a host plant to thrive.
